THE UNDINE'S PLEA TO THE OGRE

Fly from the distant headlands
To these marshy and these dead lands,
To this place of perfect dream
Come sit beside my silver stream.

Here bring all your magic armor,
Your pelf from town and farmer,
Take each gold bar and precious jewel,
Come sit beside my silver pool.

Do not fear the elfin undine,
Know that your strength is nine times mine!
I could not hope to kill thee,
But only hope to thrill thee!

I have opals, I have agates,
My other friends have many mates.
I am alone, a little fool.
Come sit beside my silver pool.

I'll love thee for one hour,
And if I have the power
Weave thee shirts of finest gold,
Or love thee till the Sun grows cold.

Mind I am just a little girl,
With golden hair, a precious pearl.
You are an ogre strong and cruel,
Take me as your precious jewel!

Bring your armor, bring your sword,
I am your slave, you are my lord!
We'll love beneath this great hornbeam.
Come sit beside my silver stream.

You need not give me clothes or food,
In all seasons I am nude.
Pray come to me, and you will feast,
Bring treasures from the distant East.

Believe you not the ancient tale,
How one small undine could assail
Some giant or an ogre lord
Impaling him with his own sword...

Once ogre crossed my pretty ford,
I slew him with his own cruel sword.
I'll lure another lustful fool
To sit beside my silver pool.
