Look at me – a sea horse gliding silently. Look at me – in magic gardens under the sea. Neck and head shaped like a horse That’s why I’m called a seahorse – of course! With tube like snout, mouth at the tip To suck in tiny shrimp each day. I’m a sea horse carnivore. I try to stay away From large fish and sometimes seals Who think I’m their prey! And when I’m tired I use my tail To cling to kelp and not drift away. Look at me – a sea horse gliding effortlessly. Look at me – in magic gardens under the sea. If I’m not sold for medicine Or for someone’s aquarium My biggest threat is sad destruction Of my sea environment. I need you to help me save it. Lobby government To educate, protect the sea Pollution free for me And all the many creatures of the sea Who love to swim – safe and free! Look at me – I only want to live in the sea. Look at me – I want to swim there safe and free. Into dad’s pouch mum gave her eggs For him to keep – until I was born. Our dad gave birth to lots of us For seahorses – that is the norm! Armored miniatures are we Clinging in the sea. For survival we must stay Watchful every day! That’s why our eyes move independently To watch for danger or prey. Look at me – I’m clinging tightly in the sea. Look at me – I’m growing independently. |
